PROW Workshop
AI has made building software faster and cheaper than ever. Which means the thing that separates great product teams from the rest is no longer execution speed - it’s the quality of the decisions behind what you build.
The roadmap exists. The vision doc exists. But when your engineers are shipping faster than ever and the pressure to add AI features is relentless, the real question is: does everyone on your team - and across your organisation - know why you’re building what you’re building?
And are the hundreds of small daily decisions actually pointing in the same direction? That’s what the Decision Stack solves. Strategy has always mattered. Right now, it’s everything.
Clarity over consensus: define a real strategy that makes actual choices, not a document everyone nods at and ignores.
Decisions at speed: use principles so your team can make good calls without escalating everything to you.
Connect the dots: close the gap between your company’s vision and what actually gets built day to day.
AI as a thinking partner: stress-test strategy and sharpen decisions without outsourcing your judgement.
A plan to bring it back: concrete next steps for driving alignment on your own team, not just inspiration.
Developed by Martin Eriksson and used by product teams around the world, the Decision Stack is a mental model, not a framework - it connects everything from company vision down to the daily decisions that either reinforce or undermine your strategy. It is the subject of his book of the same name, and this is the half-day version of it, with your own product on the table. Expect a mix of short lectures, hands-on activities and group discussion, with the time spent on the two hardest layers: defining your strategy, and defining your principles.
Vision and mission, strategy, objectives, opportunities, principles. We walk the stack end to end, then you map your own and find the layer that’s quietly missing.
A strategy makes choices - it says what you won’t do. You’ll draft one against your own product and pressure-test whether it rules anything out, or just restates priorities everyone already agreed on.
Principles are how good calls get made without reaching your desk. You’ll draft a set for your own organisation and test them against real decisions your team faced recently.
How AI changes the strategic landscape, and how to use it to stress-test strategy and sharpen decisions - without quietly outsourcing your judgement to it.
Close with a concrete plan: what you’ll take back, who needs to be in the room, and how you’ll drive alignment once the workshop energy has worn off.
One honest expectation, in Martin’s own words: you probably won’t walk away with a perfectly crafted strategy. You’ll walk away knowing exactly where your stack breaks, and what to do about it.
This workshop is for the people who own product direction - and for the ones about to. Heads of Product, VPs and CPOs who want to sharpen how they communicate and operationalise strategy; founders and senior leaders looking to align their organisations around a clear product direction; and senior PMs and Staff-level ICs ready to grow into leadership and take ownership of strategy in their teams.
The workshop is built on The Decision Stack: How Strategic Clarity Unlocks Organizational Momentum, the book Martin wrote from advising more than 150 companies on getting their strategy straight. Every seat comes with a copy, and Martin signs them on the day.
A signed copy of The Decision Stack, handed over and signed by Martin on the day.
TBD - the rest of the workshop materials.
Bring a notebook if you like writing by hand, everything else is provided.
